Pedro Gobira Appointed Assistant Professor at TNU
Former Postdoc at TNU Pedro Gobira has been appointed Assistant Professor at TNU for a three-year term. He will take on the role during Rodrigo Grassi-Oliveira's leave.
Short bio: Pedro Gobira is a neuroscientist with a background in pharmacology who investigates the molecular and circuit-level mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders. His research combines behavioral neuroscience, epigenetic regulation, and extracellular vesicle biology to understand how environmental exposures influence long-term psychiatric vulnerability.
Dr. Gobira completed his Master’s and PhD training in Brazil. His early work focused on the role of the endocannabinoid system in addiction-related neuroplasticity, identifying its contributions to reward and relapse vulnerability. During his postdoctoral training, conducted in Brazil and the United States, he expanded this research to investigate chromatin remodeling and ubiquitin–proteasome mechanisms regulating persistent drug-seeking behaviors.
He joined Aarhus University in 2022, where his research focuses on brain-derived extracellular vesicles as mediators of synaptic plasticity and neurodevelopmental risk. His work integrates extracellular vesicle isolation, cargo characterization, and functional neuronal assays to identify vesicle-mediated mechanisms of synaptic dysfunction in neuropsychiatric conditions.
