Rodrigo Grassi-Oliveira awarded a 500,000 DKK grant for collaborative research project

Associate Professor Rodrigo Grassi-Oliveira has been awarded 500,000 DKK from the Programa Conhecimento Brasil to support a collaborative research project in neuroscience and psychiatry.

Building Bridges with Extracellular Vesicles: Connecting Brazil, Denmark, and the USA to Understand the Blood-Brain Barrier and Addiction

Over the next 24 months, Rodrigo and his team will focus on the study:

“The Role of Extracellular Vesicles and Condensates in Blood-Brain Barrier Dysfunction in Chronic Morphine or Cocaine Use.”

This project explores how extracellular vesicles and cellular condensates influence the permeability and dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier, shedding light on the impact of addiction on the brain. By addressing these mechanisms, they aim to uncover potential pathways for therapeutic intervention.

The project exemplifies the power of international collaboration, bridging expertise from Brazil, Denmark, and the USA to tackle complex neuropsychiatric challenges.
